Women’s Counselling

The Women’s Resource Centre offers free counselling services to women who have been or are being abused by an intimate partner or family member. Women can receive individual counselling or attend one of our support groups offered throughout the year. Domestic violence may include emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. The Centre’s counsellors also work as advocates for women in the community, by attending court, advocating for housing, assisting in protection orders, accompaniment to legal aid, and other supports as needed. The Women’s Resource Centre along with its major contributor, the Family Violence Prevention Program, is dedicated to giving comfort and support to women and families who are affected by domestic violence.

51% of Canadian women report having experienced at least one incident of physical violence since the age of 16.

Two-thirds of all murdered women died at the hands of their intimate partners.

40% of abuse begins during pregnancy.
